Approach
In Martinez's work, there is an anxiety-inducing undertone and absurdist feel using shock factor.
Using a hot iron as a hair straightener there is a touch of the absurd and a whole lot of anxiety with how the figure doesn't even seem to realize how much smoke is coming out.
Results
The resulting image creates a juxtaposition between the dangerous activity and the idyllic floral wallpaper and uncaring protagonist.
