To capture a moment in time around an artist and her music. Thao and the Get Down Stay Down were coming to play in our backyard at GSD&M and we wanted to pay tribute.

In Thao and the Get Down Stay Down’s new album Man Alive, the band shifted from the folksiness of prior albums to a funkier rhythmic blend of styles. When creating their poster we wanted to capture that new energy as well the subtle mystery behind the band’s front runner, Thao Nguyen.

She seemed to like the art very much.
