This student project was to create a feature spread for a magazine focused on a specific article about fake meat.
My approach to this project was to create a dynamic layout and engage the viewer through the use of a powerful photograph and energic typography. Even though there is no real problem with fake meat, our project was meant to create a spread based on the headline. The meat on the ice-cream cone is completely out of place, luring viewers in and making them question the morals of fake meat.
I want the readers to either be shocked, grossed out or excited about the photograph. My goal was to create a strong reaction, bad or good.
The result was sucessful. There is clear visual interest and hierarchy as well as a clear concept. Magazine spread was successful as it creates an element of surprise and interest for the viewer, it has the ability to make the audience question the headline and imagery.
