The assignment was to create a unique letterform logo for Okashi Imports company that incorporates an object and combines it with a letter to be presented as a cohesive visual connection making a unique brand company.
I started out with brainstorming different ideas of what forms I can mix with letters, I thought of the letter "O" and have always wanted to graphically depict the visual form of a geisha somehow so I made some thumbnail sketches of a geisha's head-dressings and hair with the letter "O" being the face. I rendered the head-dressings and hair to be geometric and minimal yet still recognizable and having that detail be the main focus point of the logo. I then started pairing type together and ended up using Acumin Pro Extra Condensed because it had that japanese feel to tie in with the mark. Finally I finished out with choosing the color for the mark, I liked the feel of a light maroonish pink color because it felt warm and inviting.
The mark successfully combines the companies main target with the use of the object combined with the letterform. It is creative, unique, and cohesive and would love to expand it further in a branding solution.
