Raw is a multi-sensory pop up show that asked 40 artists to focus on the five senses to create an immersive art show. The show would be located in the old postal building in downtown Miami and take place during the most competitive season of the year: Art Basel.
Partnering with the National Federation of the Blind, TAKEOUT set out to create "BASEL BRAILLE" an experience to change the public's perception of blind people and to include them in the art world. With the tagline "Unsee Your Perceptions", TAKEOUT created a room full of fun facts and two performers. Each fun fact was in Braille, making it impossible for most visitors to detect without interacting with the performers who were blind.
Over the course of one week, RAW had over 5000 visitors. The show garnered national and international media impressions and TAKEOUT tripled its social media following.But most importantly, "BASEL BRAILLE" broke down the barrier between the sighted and the blind by creating a moment of genuine interaction and entertainment. In the process, TAKEOUT supported the National Federation of the Blind with donations from visitors.
