A lot of people are scared about the rise of social media and the damage it has caused to society, its exploitation and manipulation of users through surveillance capitalism and data mining. But technology is objective, it provides the information with the understanding of the user behavior, the internet learned most of the people like eye-catching information, then after a time period of user searching/look into those same type of news, those will be the only thing internet will show us. the poster is to raise awareness about technology is objective, how much we think, what we search, and how we use the internet is shaping our knowledge network, and our horizon to see the world.
The poster illustrated how people interact in social media with the social language metaphors ("(_" and "a;" to illustrate human faces and emotion) and how they trying to look at the world in a small window, but the hand, which is the metaphor of information coming from internet is catching their eyes, in the meantime, limited the horizon they can see. However, the world is much larger than what they can see, it has different shades, different dimensions, and all the unknowns if they really choose to tap into it.
It made people think more about how they can use the internet/technology for good, reduce the anxiety from technology's social learning aspect.
