When Studio School, formerly known as Relativity School, wanted to establish an identity for their new name, they came to BRIGADE for a complete brand refresh. Their goal was to launch an engaging brand identity that would more accurately reflect their depth and mission. Studio School’s location at Los Angeles Center Studios gives emerging entertainment artists and entrepreneurs the opportunity to pursue fully-accredited degrees with working professionals on an active studio lot.
To reflect Studio School’s commitment to the craft of storytelling and spirit of entrepreneurship, we used film industry lingo to bring their identity to life in a bold and inspiring way. We also adopted a framing device based on the letterforms L and A, that implied a space for creative collaboration, while featuring Los Angeles as the premier destination for young artists and entrepreneurs. We developed conversational and aspirational copy that speaks directly to prospective students, encouraging them to take a chance and pursue their dreams.
The resulting text-based design and verbal creative engages the imaginations of prospective students by inviting them to look closer. The new design has already been successfully incorporated into print materials and the school’s new website, and is being embraced enthusiastically by current students—particularly the framing device. The rebrand has also been mentioned on industry blogs increasing Studio School’s brand awareness.
