The assignment was to come up with an "ecologically mindful" packaging design. We were tasked with finding a problem in packaging design and redesign our own version. We were allowed to choose the subject matter, concept, and materials for this project.

I visited my local skateshop and realized that the skateboard wheel packaging was wasteful with plastics and expensive cardstock. It also wasn't protecting and displaying the wheels in a visually appealing way.

I was inspired by a trip to the grocery store where I saw sushi rolls in the window. I noticed that the food was displayed and protected.

I also tried to emulate a mid-century modern style and aesthetic throughout the design because I believe that the style is very organic and gives it a natural feel.

I took cues from sushi packaging and implemented it into my design.

The cork on the backs of the packaging are used to protect the wheel, prevent slipping on the shelf when stocked in a skate shop, and is also a free coaster for a beverage after installing the wheels on your skateboard.
