Students were given a social issue chosen at random and told to design a lateral 3-poster campaign using type to raise awareness on their particular topic.
The social issue I had to do a campaign over was child abuse. Physical abuse is pretty widely covered, so I decided to cover emotional abuse instead, which is much more prevalent.
The building blocks were used to represent the perspective of the child, spelling out the phrases they hear from their abusive parents. The result is an image that looks fun from afar, then draws you in to tell you the more morose story. The building blocks are followed by a statistic from the National Society for Prevention of Cruelty in Children and a hotline to call.
