The main starting point in designing a jazz poster was non-use of musical symbols or illustrations or even photos of jazz instruments.
Syncopation was a visual approach to the concept of the design. In music, syncopation is a term, meaning disturbance or interruption in the regular rhythm flow.
The result is a poster with different visual patterns of urban facades arranged in different directions, sizes, rhythms, like a contrast with minimal use of colours to create the impression of not only a visual syncopation but also a kind of seen urban jazz music.
