Landmarks around the world glowed with blue lights to celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the United Nations, and posters were created to commemorate the event.
Approach
Although photos of the event existed, for the posters it was preferable to use original typography and illustrations created specifically for the project. As illustration is not bound by reality, the lighting and perspectives were enhanced for what best fit a narrow poster format. Also the addition of a peace dove was integrated into the series.
Results
A series of posters now exist that show a few highlights of the global event, where a vintage typographical approach honors the 70 year history of the UN. The United Nations Headquarters illustration now exists in collateral sold as commemorative items in the UN Bookshop.
