I had recently done a studio shoot with a leaf-blower, and I knew I wanted to work on a larger project, on location, with hurricane-like wind. I began with a lot of free-thinking and sketching. Then scouting locations, casting talent, booking crew, sourcing props and wardrobe, and planning every detail of the shoot so there'd be room for some fun. A week before the shoot I did a detailed tech scout to figure lighting and grip and to create detailed lighting diagrams. Though I always strive to capture as much as possible in-camera, the largest shot of the day required multiple talent at different times, along with plates for props and other elements, all composited in post.
