AHS 1984 is an homage to the slasher horror flicks of the 80s. Borrowing aesthetically from the imagery and themes of that genre in that era, we needed to create a campaign that immediately communicated the camp, horror, and general style of the genre.
We hacked up unique situations for our victims and executed them in action. Each victim, being pursued by a killer, is captured in the moment before his or her demise. Shot as if you were standing next to them as the knife (or ax, etc...) fell. Melodramatic expression from the victim and an overly sized kitchen knife stuck in the ground show this photo’s direct 80s influence. Careful and concise photo painting was done in finishing to bring out the brilliance and sparkle of the color that was so prevalent in the 80s.
This was a piece was part of our extensive outdoor campaign for American Horror Story’s 9th season.
