This title focuses on the history of the practice of gerrymandering in Texas, and makes predictions for the practice in the future. I wanted the cover to reflect the ridiculousness of the biased practice of gerrymandering, particularly in Texas, which is one of the most gerrymandered states in the US.
To illustrate the practice of gerrymandering on this cover, I broke up the text and also divided the letters into sections with a line. These sections do not break up the text in a way that is clean, even, or logical, similar to how gerrymandering breaks up the state into illogical portions. The background image is a map of the original districts that Texas was divided into. This was added to create texture and also to compare how simple and clean districts used to look before gerrymandering was employed.
The author liked the cover and it’s been well received overall.
