The goal for this assignment was to design a type-dominated infographic centered around a personal topic of interest. It needed to incorporate two or more colors, as well as two different types of charts.
For this project, I took inspiration from vintage music posters from the 1960s. I wanted to connect the way people listened to music back then to the way we listen to music now, which is mainly through apps. I paired a 60's color palette with a modern type family meant for UI design. I also examined Nicholas Felton and his approach to data visualization.
This infographic is successful because it clearly displays the data in a creative way. The viewer can easily peruse my rankings of these ten artists, compare their monthly listeners on Spotify, and work their way through the introductory flowchart. It also includes a Spotify scan code so you can listen to the playlist I have created featuring all of these artists.
