Museum Identity Rebranding GYEONGGI CERAMIC MUSEUM
Gyeongi Ceramic Museum is a museum which is dedicated to displaying not only historical ceramic works but also the pieces of Korean artisans of pottery.
As time goes on, however, it lost its identity as ceramic museum, attention from younger generation.
So, GCM had to come up with a new attractive identity which is able to draw attention from the younger generation.
In order to come up with the new logo and the visual identity, the research was conducted to find out the old history of GCM. And according to the research, it was obvious that the logo and the visual identity have to reflect the true features of Korean pottery design.
So, blue and white porcelain was used, since it is the art that represent the features of Korean pottery design.
Inspired by the color scheme of blue and white, which bring up the image of the porcelain, the logo was created using the first letters of each words of GCM.
And it was focused on the details of the geometric patterns of the bule and with porcelain.
As a result, the museum’s unique patterns were born. And the museum branding, which can attract the younger generation and reflect visually the own beauty of Korean traditional pottery, was completed.
This identity has been developed in a flexible way which enables the application to the stationery, ticket, mug, website and mobile app design.
