Bam Bam's Barbeque is a brand that prides itself on the authenticity of it's methods. It uses age old practices of slowly smoking tender cuts of meats to perfection. I wanted the brand to reflect this nod to history by referencing vintage typography, while keeping the color palette sharp and unfaded to maintain relevance with a modern audience. I wanted the typography to be reminiscent of what you might see above an old saloon, which also ties into the western "cowboy" culture that is readily associated with barbeque. For a Secondary typeface I used Sentinel because, although it's a slab serif ,which fits perfectly with my western concept, it has many weights to keep it fresh and modern. I also made three barbeque sauces that would be sold online and at store locations. I chose a matte black finish that is reminiscent of the char on the outside of a smoked brisket, and I numbered them by their heat index from mildest (1) to hottest (3). I also used color to differentiate between the different sauces, and reflect the flavors of each.
