My goal was to capture the every day moments in the favela. Even in extreme poverty, the people are resourceful, genuine, and friendly. All creature comforts are minimal.
I used sepia processing to illustrate the utterly poor conditions that millions live in.
I feel that I was able to portray the desperate conditions, yet show the resilience of the people living in the favela. Two of the images were on display at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta, Georgia.
