Assignment
The Black Rep, considered the largest African American theater company in the nation, moved into its 38th season without a physical home and in dire need of maintaining organizational support from its primary subscribers. The client asked us to develop posters that would resonate with their primary subscriber base and drive new ticket sales.
Approach
We designed powerful, illustrative posters using a collage of high-contrast, black and white photography. We used key visual elements and metaphors in the artwork, inspired by the core essence of each play. While each play’s storyline varied, our approach gave the season a cohesive visual synergy.
Results
The season is now in full swing and has garnered sold out shows and rave reviews of the artwork, which is being used on playbills, take-one postcards and the website, in addition to the posters.
