I designed a book cover for the book "The Looming Tower" written by Lawrence Wright. The book follows a CIA agent and his red-flagging investigations into Al Queda and Osama Bin Liden. These investigations he was leading were within the build up to 9/11 and he tried to warn the powers that be of what might be coming. He was never taken seriously and pushed back by heaps of red tape. We all know what happened next.

I wanted to find a way to have an obvious connection to the Twin towers but in a tasteful way as well as something that's not beaten to death. I also kept thinking about all the red tape this guy had to deal with and what stopped the intel he was getting from being taken seriously. I devised a way to hint at the towers as well as hide them behind the red tape strips. The strips also mimic the red stripes in the American flag. I carried those colors and them throughout the whole cover.

I think I was successful at designing a cover that is eye-catching but also respectful and serious as something about 9/11 should be.
