The assignment was to select an institution and translate the unique message or mission of the brand.
Isamu Noguchi was a Japnese-American artist and landscape architect. Since the museum is a very quiet and peaceful place, the goal was to design the quiet moment of the museum and to articulate his works and philosophies throughout the identity.
Inspired by his use of organic forms and the landscape in the Museum Garden, his Japanese name, ‘野口’, is redesigned according to his sculptures and drawings, and each forms are deconstructed in the pattern. To balance out his cultural background of Japan and America, the pattern includes fragments of classical serifs and elements of serif letters.
