When a shell from a British warship shot away the flagstaff during the Battle of Fort Sullivan, Sergeant William Jasper heroicly recovered the South Carolina flag, raised it on a temporary staff, and held it under fire until a new staff was installed. Based on the namesake of the gin, the label design honors this bold event by Jasper during the American Revolution.

Charleston Distilling Co. has since launched a second variation of Jasper's Gin.
