Nothing new in the USA’s State Department gift shop selling flag pins ‘Made in China’. The US has outsourced the production of much, if not all of its consumer goods to China ever since the US opened its vast consumer market to the flood of Chinese imports. The right lapel pin can put the finishing touch on any diplomat’s ensemble and they can wear it with the upmost pride. But as you can see, the tiny badge pins come with a clear indication they were ‘Made in China’.

Here’s a little reminder: As the diplomat’s proudly display the American flag pin on their breast, they are also wearing a symbol of the new global economy.
