The Ice Age Hair Ball is a bi-annual fundraising event for the La Brea Tar Pits and Museum in Los Angeles. Attendees are encouraged to sport their most outrageous hairdos and party the night away. The assignment was to create an invitation that would inspire high-level donors to participate.

Our potential donors receive many invitations to fundraising events. This invitation needed to stand out, convey the spirit of the event, and inspire attendees to have fun creating an original crazy hairstyle of their own.

We wanted to create an invitation that would inspire, but not intimidate potential guests. With the exception of the cover model, our models were past Hair Ball attendees and staff, sporting the hairstyles they created themselves. Each 'do comes with a "how-to" explanation, and a difficulty rating. The flip book format is designed to encourage creativity and play - the combinations range from the stylish to the hilarious. Our hope is that this gives the invitation a longer lifespan in a recipient's home, increasing the chances of a donation.

The invitations just mailed out, so we don't know how successful they will be in generating donations/attendees. But our clients can't stop playing with the samples and giggling!
