Within a single media/medium, create and design editions, or a series of items espousing a notion, conception, abstraction, theory, hypothesis, or conviction that I am knowledgeable and passionate about. My project must have at least four components, clearly communicate my intentions, and work together conceptually and visually as a series.

My direct family has owned an all seasonal cabin on Lake Washburn in northern Minnesota for over 15 years, and card and board games are one of the corner stones to the cherished memories shared at the Sullivan cabin. In order to create a totem to celebrate these memories, I created a set of playing cards commemorating the four seasons and the memorable activities that take place within those seasons.

The final product is now a cherished item at the Sullivan cabin that's truly unique and that imbues the passion put forth to create a memorable family totem. The playing cards successfully interpret the four seasons through color palettes that reflect the geographic and biological environment of the landscape. The use of geometric iconography to represent the seasons also tells a story with the activities that happen within these seasons. With Summer, fishing and canoeing; Fall, bonfires and raking leaves; Winter, playing hockey and snowshoeing; and Spring, with yard work in preparing for summer. All of these elements work together as a system to create a coherent visual and conceptual series of playing cards.
