This is a wine from the Thrace region of Turkey. Odrysia is the name of the kingdom (between the 5th and 3rd centuries BC.) who spread viticulture and wine making in the region. The label designs are inspired from the wine cups of that era, recovered from king tombs, made from gold or silver plated animal horns.
The name and story of the name made me look into the history of the region. That's how I found out about these beautiful wine cups and decided to illustrate them in order to use as design elements on these wine labels.
The client was very fond of the design. There is actually a third wine on the way in this series with a different cup design. It is a pretty good rated wine so I think the label is doing good justice.
