The assignment was to chose a social cause that you think needs a higher level of awareness and create an awareness advertisement based on the topic.
I chose to do my social cause advertisement on the sex trafficking industry. I wanted to break the stigma that prostitution is a choice, while sex trafficking is coercion. In reality, they are one in the same and I wanted to use the idea of "profession" to highlight that prostitution is not a job people have chosen or ever will choose.
By manipulating the headline to be like a little girl's sidewalk chalk, the advertisement conveys a message about childhood dreams in a way that no one is used to seeing. By using this approach, the result achieved was a shock factor that drew in the audience to see how there is deeper roots to the prostitution industry than just a profession that children aspire to pursue.
