Samsung is manufacturing smart phones faster than they can be recycled, creating a tremendous amount of waste every year. Meanwhile, children in third world countries are traveling miles over perilous terrain just to make it to school. In an effort to fix both problems at once, Samsung and Verizon have united to create project Patria. Their solution is to refurbish used smart phones and put them in the hands of teachers and students who would otherwise be risking their lives to make it to school.
