This assignment was to bundle three books and design the covers and the jackets so that the bundle felt cohesive, even if all the authors were different. I chose to design Frankenstein, Dracula, and Wendigo as a classic gothic monster bundle.

I designed my books to target the young adults who are horror fanatics that would want a collection of creepy and gruesome looking books. Keeping this in mind, I went for a tactile approach so that every part of the book and jacket had an interesting surface and texture. This included using thread to sew many of the pieces, create teeth, puncture holes, burned faux fur, and creating 3D veins for the jackets and making custom black paper to create texture around the book. Even the typography of the titles have dimensionality to them as they are raised embossments.

Many students approached me to tell me how interesting or cool my books were. My professor found my design approach to be very successful and urged me to enter it into a competition.
