This poster was designed for a global environmental awareness exhibition. Designers from around the world were challenged to convey a message of their choice.
After much consideration of the environmental issues facing us, I decided to focus on the impact that human population is having (and will continue to have) on the depletion of natural resources and habitats. The UN projects that the world population will reach 9.7 billion by 2050. Carbon and water levels are rapidly rising, while natural resources increasingly diminish. For the sake of our planet, our survival, and the ecosystems that we are a part of, it is time for us to find a healthy global balance.
The image of folded paper is a metaphor for the current dominance of acts of expansion and the meekness of conservation. Something that starts small can spread and cover a large area. Arrows further emphasize this concept. Secondary type states that "it is time to question… need/want, long term/short term, conservation/expansion, and sustainability/imbalance.
