The goal of this assignment entrepreneurial – to create a product I believe may have broad appeal (or appeal to a very specific audience) and may be sellable.
"Driven by a passion for design, and understanding the relationship between what we do and its potential earning power, designers are often very entrepreneurial. I want you to creatively explore opportunities for this assignment. Designers have produced games, books, apps, apparel, toys, sculptures, calendars, furniture, food items, playing cards, gifts, etc. Many designers have created successful companies in the process. Your thinking and design should be based on the things about which you are passionate."
My idea for this project originated from a common need I found throughout multiple communities of people with niche passions and interests: to have a dating platform where they can meet people who are equally passionate about the things they love, no matter how small their niche may be. I set out to create an interest-targeted dating app where users can showcase their passions and tailor their dating feed preferences to show others who share their same specific interests. Users would also be able to add their passions to the app, allowing the interface to constantly grow with areas of interests.
The final entrepreneurial pitch for Métier walks potential developers through the user profile building and matching processes, showing how users can add their passions to their profile and curate their dating feed. The app also includes a "Community" feature, where people with shared interests can discuss their passions and plan local mixers where users can continue their dating experience outside of the app.
