Cultura em Expansão is a cultural program developed by Porto City Hall where projects in the field of music , film, theater and dance are taken to the most socially vulnerable areas of the city. The client ask us to design a poster where it was possible to feel the ambience of that vulnerable neighbourhoods in a engaging way.

Our concept was based in the expansion associated with the geographical territory. Graphically we combine three elements that allowed us to ensure a quick interpretation but at the same time give us the possibility to conjugate them in a not so literally way. The city map (1) is used as landscape , topographical lines (2) as dissemination and contagion and typography (3) as more sound element , which will interact with the elements presented.

Even without use any kind of elements related directly to music, films, theatre the people felt that was a poster that can express what really means this projects — take cultural events from the common halls and put them in vulnerable areas like poor neighbourhoods. Because it was and hand made poster, with a lot of texture and "errors" people felt that more attractive to it in the way they have the necessity of looking close to see the details.
