The assignment was to create a poster for the Cleveland Orchestra and their upcoming concert series at Severance Hall.
Approach
The design of the poster is heavily inspired by Severance Hall, where the concerts are located. The concert hall, built in the 1920s, is art deco style and has unique characteristics that I wanted to translate to the poster.
Results
The Art Deco style I incorporated infused patterns from the time period, along with elements from the concert hall itself. For example, the top of the poster closely resembles the top of the façade of the building. The ornaments on the poster are also found on the chairs inside the theater and in the main lobby. Instruments were included to quickly tell the viewer the event is for the Orchestra.
