The assignment was to create a poster for an exhibition series of jazz concerts to commemorate several jazz icons. This is the poster for Charlie "Bird" Parker, a legendary jazz legend saxophonist.
Typographic manipulations, made with paper, photography, and scanners, provided a huge opportunity to quickly generate compositions. Inspiration came while listening to the jazz music of each musical legend. A bebop beat influenced the type manipulations of Charlie Bird Parker’s name. The results were rhythmic, energetic, and full of movement.
The symbols, colors, and typography that convey motion and rhythm visually create Parker's style of music and metaphorically represent what his music makes listeners feel.
