This assignment was to create a poster about something we felt passionate about. It required a tagline of some sort that would draw your audience into the poster to consider the subject matter.

I feel that women's accomplishments, no matter how big, are still compared to those of men. Whether hitting a high personal record at the gym, or running for president, women are subject to praise in comparison to what a male could have done and I wanted to make a poster that stands for strength in relation to no one other than your own self.

I photographed a strong role model of mine that exemplifies both inner and outer strength. The photo draws the audience in by the confidence that she exudes and then the text makes the viewer stop and think about the type of compliment that women tend to get, which when paired with "for a girl", doesn't seem to feel like a compliment any more. Women are powerful and strong, not in comparison to males, but in general.
