The prompt for this assignment was to create a food service in response to current Covid-19 regulations. In a group of 3-4 people we were tasked with coming up with a unique venture and then creating individual design directions individually. Since it spanned an entire semester the project was not only substantially, but also backed with a solid amount of planning and research.

My group decided to create a family oriented meal kit aimed at creating an outdoor backyard camping experience called Spark & Sparrow. Each kit includes a meal, dessert, drinks, patches with activities, and any necessary tools you may need for cooking. We want to bring families together to not only experience the outdoors in a new way but to help them learn while doing it.

From the start of my early sketches, I wanted to focus my branding of Spark & Sparrow on two points, having paper-cut-like illustrations along with characters to represent the “Spark” and “Sparrow” of the company. I initially decided that Spark would be a bear with a flame resting on his stomach and Sparrow would be a bird. After finding the initial styles of my characters and small branding elements within my style tile, I worked to build my full brand around them.
