Goal was to create a book cover for a classic book which was predetermined by the professor. The book jacket's main focus must be on typography.
The book "Pale Fire" by Vladimir Nabokov has many stories, perspectives, and layers. It is the same story told two separate ways and is done so by a secondary narrator that reveals what he believes is true in the latter half of the book. I wanted the cover to display some sort of revelation or a two-sided nature that the book had.
The result was a black and white cover that features a rip going through the entirety of the cover. The rip reveals a stark white background and sans serif font beneath the black crinkled paper and serif font. The two sides represent the two narrators, and how one doesn't really know which story is supposed to be the dominant story. Typography remains the main focus as the tear is mist apparent on the title of the book jacket.
