In my VIS317 (Typographic Design) class, the assignment was to create a series of four stamps that embodied some part of American culture.
Through my series of stamps, I wanted to show how sugar somehow brings many positive effects on our lives by giving us energy and pleasure. With the positive connotations, my stamp series is American's sweet obsessions. I chose to create a series of stamps highlighting the most famous desserts among the top-ten which Americans have enjoyed eating throughout history: ice cream, cupcakes, doughnuts, and s' mores. The overall styles of my stamp series are retro and vintage which hold the history of American desserts both conceptually and visually. I used retro style typeface, Waste Money, for the year and the title. For subtitle (name of each dessert) and "USA FOREVER", I used lowercases of Beautiful Roses in regular.
