Assignment
Arte approached ThoughtMatter to develop a piece to provide inspiration to their students that can live as a poster as well as a reference piece for the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Historically, the UDHR has been reproduced as a small reference text that is not particularly engaging to read.
Approach
ThoughtMatter developed a bold, graphic interpretation of the text that took cues from protest graphics coupled with the wings of a dove, a common symbol of peace. With quite a bit of text to contend with, ThoughtMatter included only the title and a statement from Arte's founder on the front so that the entirety of the document text including the preamble could live on the reverse.
Results
The client was thrilled with the design and began to think through all of the different ways to use the piece in addition to the original intent. Currently the client is exploring the use of Kickstarter to raise funds for printing a mass quantity of the poster to be used as a fundraising tool for their annual appeal in November 2019.
