The creative approach to this project was to consider the design elements of the original release and reimagine them — upgrading, refining, and creating more depth of meaning throughout. We chose to feature the beaded Wildflower logo on the front cover (a tiny inset detail on the 1994 package). It was recreated at a larger scale, and in greater detail, by Maria Sarno.
We commissioned Blaze Ben Brooks to create unique illustrations inspired by each song — 25 in total. We pulled stills from the original recording studio footage, and researched rare photos and ephemera from the time period.
Encased in a beautifully crafted woven bag, with custom silver button clasp (created by MadeWorn in Los Angeles), the 9-LP folio includes a hardbound 60-page book, with an introduction by Rick Rubin (the original album producer), an essay by David Fricke, a complete track-by-track, rare photos, and illustrations by Blaze Ben Brooks.
Additional items in the package include an illustrated lyric book, four handwritten lyric reproductions, a lithograph, a reproduction of the 1995 Dogs With Wings tour book, a woven patch, a sticker, a 7” single, a certificate of authenticity, and a handmade beaded necklace.
