The goal with this campaign was to present a mini series as a premium drama about an historical event, without it feeling like a documentary. Because this was a teaser, we did not need to show the cast, despite strong name recognition of the talent.
Since we did not have to show talent, and the title clued the viewer into the story, we focused on finding an iconic image that would capture the energy of the show and the chaos of battle. We then experimented with alternate graphic treatments to clue the viewer in that this was a drama, not a documentary.
The premiere of Texas Rising averaged 4.1 million viewers overall, making it the calendar year’s second most-watched cable premiere, and the best cable mini-series start in Live+3 since History’s The Bible.
