The assignment was to redesign a logo for a mom-and-pop shop from anywhere on the east coast. I chose The Capital Candy Jar in Washington D.C., renaming it to Capital Candy.
I wanted to create a logo that equally blended the "candy" aspect with the "capital" aspect. Starting with thumbnails, I landed on the idea of using the eagle featured on the United States seal as the main object. To adequately mix the "candy" into it, I replaced the shield usually on the eagle's front, with a chocolate-covered strawberry. After many iterations, roughs, and refining I ended up with the finished product shown.
This was a mock redesign, so there was no showing to the client, however, my professor was very impressed and considered it a very successful redesign.
