During this Covid lockdown, while looking at the wildfires in California, we thought about how everything seemed like it was in turmoil at that time. So, when we came to designing this particular poster, we wanted to give the poster a sense of that turmoil, and the fragility of how we live in our environment. During Covid, we went for long walks, always taking photographs along the way. During one such hike, we came across a vast hill where a forest had recently been cleared away, leaving only tree stumps and debris along a steep hill. It was a powerful image and immediately we both knew that this devasted forest could be the foundation of this poster. We combined several images in Photoshop along with an archived image of a child, that Patricia had photographed many years ago. Slightly tilting the image was the last thing we did to give the poster a sense of motion and tension.
