Commodore Farm & Vineyards is a new agri-business located outside of Providence, Rhode Island. This fledgling vineyard is situated in an emerging wine region on the east coast and will be ready to produce grapes mature enough for winemaking in the very near future. A memorable brand and identity was needed for a variety of applications, from wine labels to cast-iron fencing.
Commodore Farm & Vineyard's namesake is Commodore Oliver Perry, who's family claimed ownership of the property as far back as the mid-1700's. Commodore Perry was a key commander in the War of 1812, specifically the Battle of Lake Erie. Drawing on the property's ties to naval history, Commodore Perry's ship, the USS Niagara, was an appropriate symbol to incorporate. The traditional sails of a snow-brig style ship hover above a wine bottle hull to intimately connect this new business to its historical landowners.
With the logo and business papers enthusiastically green-lit by the client, we are in the process of designing a website, various wine labels, and environmental applications including wayfinding and signage.
