The assignment was to take an existing annual report, brand book, newsletter etc. that was designed poorly, and to redesign it. The goal was to make the piece chosen cohesive and representative of the brand it is coming out of.
I chose to redo the Times Square Annual Report from 2020. I used the same information but gave it an identity and strong theming. I did this by rebranding it to surround current events since COVID has heavily impacted every aspect of life, notably tourism, especially in big cities such as New York. Therefore the name "Unprecedented Times" was chosen being a phrase that has been used in conjunction with COVID and 2020. Aesthetically, I wanted to call back to the larger than life or 3D feeling you get from the lights in times square so I selected a red/black and blue/black duotone color palette to communicate that bright, loud and authentic new york feeling.
The teacher felt I captured the spirit of New York well while appropriately displaying the data.
