The Ooops Hotel logo came from an assignment that challenged us to create a unique logo in two weeks that would stand out in our chosen client's industry.
The goal for the new logo was to capture the hotel designer's optical illusion concept of a functional hotel that appears to be submerged underwater, while also having it fit into the overall look and minimal feel of the physical location's interior.
Focusing on the unique factor of the hotel led me to explore many different visual and conceptual interpretations of optical illusions. Taking into account the minimal, clean feel of the interior of Ooops Hotel, I honed in on a high-contrast, simple optical illusion. Ultimately, I settled on a wordmark that is a solid and geometric illusion and makes a reference to a red farmhouse that is sitting on a blue lake.
The new Ooops Hotel logo was very successful, providing a unique wordmark that stood out in the hospitality industry as much as the physical location does.
From a design standpoint, the new logo captures interest and provides three layers of discovery: the illusion, the word "ooops," and the farmhouse sitting on the water.
