This project is from the Advanced Typography course for juniors in the Visual Communication Design program. Students were asked to design a poster for any festival or conference. The festival could be real or fictitious. The goal of the project was to create a large poster that integrated type and image in a compelling way.

The Zenith conference covers several topics, so I didn't want images of specific things like planets on it. I chose instead to use different photos of the stars in different colors as my main images in order to avoid having to use a picture of every topic in the lecture. The orange and blue colors are drawn from colors prevalent in technology. I made the background image black and white in order to make the colors pop more even though the stars are all pretty much the same texture.

Strong graphic lines, combined with a bright color palette and scale shifts between the typographic elements creates a bold active poster. Breaking up the (typical) constellation image adds visual interest.
