Synesthesia is a perceptual phenomenon for when you experience one of your senses through another. This is a poster series for visualizing one specific area of synesthesia, which is hearing.

Concept of Poster No.1:
Music isn’t only perceived through hearing, it may also be looked at through sight in the form of lyrics or waveforms, and in particular for people with synesthesia, color is one way they perceive sound.

Concept of Poster No.2:
Vinyls commonly only come in a couple of colors, and what differentiates one record from another is the music that is recorded on them. But for people with synesthesia, they are able to visualize music in the form of color and shapes; thereby they are able to assign unique colors that are perceived through the different music to differentiate each record in a way others can’t.

Concept of Poster No.3:
When reading sheet music, one can only see black and white notes arranged in different manners. From this, one is able to play music from any instrument. This sheet music may seem black and white in our eyes, but those with synesthesia might see these dull notes in a playful, colorful manner.
