Students of Ann Lemon's Historical Survey of Graphic Design B were moved online during the pandemic, and she needed a way to put together online lectures as resources for students to use in studying the course. She employed me to put together some engaging visuals to help categorize and introduce the subject matter for 12-weeks of lectures that spanned her course.

The subject matter included movements in art & design history that covered more modern subjects, beginning with cubism and ending with the apple's revolution of modern design. Thus, the theme of these intros became the What Is Modern Series, where each week would introduce various relatively recent movements in art history at a time. I was ahead of the course by only 1 week, so each week required me to strategize, sketch, storyboard and animate a super for each movement in art history for the next week's lecture. It was fast paced and covered many different styles, and so a challenge for me was doing research each week in order to portray these movements in thoughtfully inspired ways. Some weeks were harder than others, but we ended up with a truly eclectic motion reel that introduces the viewer to some extraordinary artists and styles that influenced modern art & design.

Ann Lemon now has the series publicly accessible for anyone who is hungry to learn about Graphic design history. Her videos have been seen by hundreds of students already, who look forward to the lecture contents by the engaging intros displayed at the beginning. These lectures will continue to be used to teach hundreds more for years to come of students and artists alike.
