This assignment is a feature opening spread included in my technology magazine. The goal of this assignment was to create a visually enticing layout and concept for my first featured article.

My process in creating this feature opener started off with me creating five rough concepts and ideas. In the next stage I, with the help of my instructor and classmates, refined and narrowed down my 5 ideas to the 2 strongest concepts. My instructor was always urging me to push my designs. With some heavy back and forth I decided to combine the two best elements of both into a more refined final concept.

In the end, the final solution intrigues the viewer and maintains their interest with the excellent juxtaposition of iconography, use of dramatic scale and tension, as well as color.
